Production, purification and characterization of macromolecular complexes

This practical training course will cover state-of-the-art technologies for production and purification of macromolecular complexes from endogenous and recombinant sources with an emphasis on methods of studying complex and difficult targets. Hands-on experiments will target over-expression of recombinant assemblies in prokaryotic and eukaryotic hosts as well as purification from endogenous sources using the TAP-tag strategy. Participants will be encouraged (via a pro-active organization prior to the course) to bring material to purify their own targets, whenever possible. The training will be organized so as to allow entry of these targets at defined stages. A poster session will be organized where each participant will be able to introduce her/his project.

This hands-on training course is the practical complement of a three day symposium which was held on March 19th-21st, 2012 on “Production and characterization of macromolecular complexes” in Strasbourg. The course is aimed at post-doctoral researchers and PhD students with at least one-year relevant experience in this area (structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology).

This workshop forms part of the Instruct Training Course Programme 2012.

Organizers: Arnaud Poterzsman & Bertrand Séraphin

The registration deadline is September 21st, 2012

Please, note that the number of  participants is strictly limited. Participants will be selected on the submitted material (CV, letter of recommendation and a half page describing their research project) and informed before September 28th of the outcome of the selection procedure.
